We are asking parents for a voluntary contribution of £4.00 per child towards the cost of this event.  There will be an option on the payment app on MCAS (My Child At School)  for you to set the price so please put in £4.00.  However,  if you feel you are able to contribute more than £4.00 you have the option to set the higher amount.

The Steyning Bookshop have organised this FREE visit for your school and offer you the chance to purchase a SIGNED copy of BUZZ SAUSAGE WOLF via their online store – with free delivery to school! Pre-ordered books will be handed out to children at school on the day of Jim’s visit and Jim will personally SIGN & DEDICATE these for your child, while he’s at school.

Our current Y2 children will relocate to Puffins, Wagtails and the current Woodpeckers classrooms where they will become our temporary Y3 classes. The new ‘mixed’ Y1/YR Woodpeckers class will be located in the current Robins class. More specific details about new classes/teachers/classrooms and transition plans for our current Y2’s will be sent out following the visit on 3rd July.

As all the activities will be outside we are able to keep volunteers and children safe while we improve our outside areas.

We are asking for volunteers (parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends of the school), to spend some time on Thursday 20th June 2024 from 9am until midday to help with a variety of seasonal tasks such as clearing dead plants, picking up leaves, litter collection, hedge trimming, cleaning the ponds and general tidying of the school grounds.

You are welcome to work with your child if you would like to. If so, it would be helpful if they have wellington boots, a waterproof coat and gardening gloves if possible. We usually have a great day… even in the damp and drizzle! Please feel free to come for whatever amount of time that you can.

We have very limited tools, so we would appreciate it if you could bring in your own tools to use on the day. We are specifically looking for saws, a hedge trimmer (not petrol), gloves, spades, forks trowels, secateurs, wood paintbrushes, hammers and wheel barrows.

We would also like to ask for any donations of seeds/bulbs/sensory plants e.g. herbs for the big day. Please bring these in from Monday the 17th of June to the school office.

Please note that School Grounds Morning is a non-uniform day. Please can all children therefore come to school in clothes suitable for gardening.

The children will watch and take part in 4 different traditional stories brought to life by professional actors.  We will join in with the songs and some of the children become actors for the show.  The show will last approximately 1 hour 20 minutes and is of a high standard and very beneficial for the children.

The children are invited to dress up in their best fairy tale inspired costume on this day! This could be as a princess or prince, one of the three little pigs, a big bad wolf or maybe even Granny (we would like to ensure they are fairy tale characters please so this does not include superheroes etc.).

The cost of the workshop equates to approximately £6 per child. As the school have a deficit budget we would be very appreciative of families making a donation towards the cost of this event. If you feel you are able to help, even by giving a smaller donation, can you please pay via ReachmoreParents (Weduc) payments section. If you would like to overpay to support families who are unable to contribute there is also this option.

We would be grateful if you could pay via ReachmoreParents (Weduc) as soon as possible but by Tuesday 20th February.

We are asking parents for a voluntary contribution of £3.50 per child towards the cost of this event.  Please pay online via Weduc by Wednesday 13th  December.

On this day, we would like to invite the children to wear non-uniform and a festive/winter jumper to school, or they can decorate a jumper with a Christmas theme, if they would like.  You do not need to contribute to the charity in order for your child to wear non-uniform, unless you wish to do so – this is entirely voluntary.  If you would like to make a donation, please give it to your child’s teacher.  Thank you
