Meet the Governors
Claire New
Claire New is our Headteacher. She plays the piano in assembly. She is very proud of all the children and staff in our school.
Likes – Jive dancing, rainbows, sunshine and sparkly things (diamonds, wine and glitter…)!
Dislikes – Slugs and other slimy creatures! Any form of mess and people who are unkind or rude!
Philippa Moulson
Philippa Moulson is our Deputy Head, DSL and attendance lead.
Likes – Reading, gardening, elephants and spending time travelling with her family
Dislikes – Mushrooms, lateness and rudeness
Jane Jones - Chair of Governors
Jane Jones is Chair of East Preston Infant School Governing body. Jane has worked in many roles but
her main occupation for the last 20+ years has been in education. She has a particular interest in children and young people with a special need.
Likes - walking with her dog and friends, theatre, National Trust properties, reading, cooking and Strictly Come Dancing. She likes to do things 'out of her comfort zone' and has a parachute jump on her bucket list.
Dislikes - unkindness, moths and heights.
Sue Mansfield
Sue Mansfield is Vice-Chair of East Preston Infant School Governing Body. She worked as a Children's Centre Manager for a number of years and in a Children's Book Shop in Somerset before moving to East Preston. She has four grandsons and a granddaughter.
Likes - Animals, photography and spending time with family and friends.
Dislikes - Spicy food and people who won't clear up after their dogs!
Stephen Hill
Stephen Hill is the School Business Manager and a co-opted Governor.
Likes - Trees, lego and aeroplanes.
Dislikes - Bad driving, messy offices and bad smells.
Leanne Buckley-Thomson
Leanne Buckley-Thomson is a Parent Governor. She is a lawyer of 15 years' experience which previously included matters relating to children. Leanne also has a masters in Forensic Psychology and Criminology and is a qualified trainer. She has published books for children. Leanne has a particular interest in widening participation, social mobility, well-being and special educational needs.
Likes - cats, food, Suits (TV show)
Dislikes - clowns, walking slowly, rudeness
Sharon Reynolds - Vice Chair
Sharon Reynolds is a co-opted Governor. She is our Vice Chair and also Chair of the Finance Committee and joined the Governing Body in 2024. She has worked in education for 26 years and now works as a counsellor.
Likes - Playing netball, golf and running. Spending time with her family, eating out and going on holidays!
Dislikes - Rudeness, unkindness, thunder and lightning.
Simon Wright
Simon Wright grew up in East Preston, is a father to three girls and has worked in
finance for over 15 years. He is a parent governor.
Likes - Spending time with family, golf and sunsets
Dislikes - Roller coasters, traffic and liquorice
Amy Kimber-Roberts
Amy Kimber-Roberts is a co-opted Governor with over a decade of experience working in professional
sport. She is passionate about advancing the professionalisation of women’s sport and expanding opportunities for girls to participate, recognising the far-reaching benefits for both individuals and society.
Likes - Sea swimming, having fun with my husband and two young daughters, coffee on the beach.
Dislikes - Misplacing spectacles and cancelled trains.
Janis Baxter
Janis Baxter is a co-opted Governor. She recently retired to East Preston having worked in schools as a DSL, Behaviour and Pastoral Lead.
Likes - Spending time with her family, walking and swimming (not if the sea is cold!)
Dislikes - The rain, untidiness and rudeness
